Critiques
I do like how the main leaf is lit so as to be almost translucent and show the shadows of the rest behind it.
I also think the frame adds a nice touch to the shot, with the small coloured line just before the black.
The one thing that I have to point out is that, at least for my own eyes, the whites are too bright on the underside of the purple opening buds, making them look overexposed (like when there is too much sun and a sky looks all white and hurts the eyes).
All in all, a soft, delicate shot. Looking at it, I can almost see the leaf unfolding from the bud, stretching out and into the world.
But I'll say any improvements first before I say that things I love so I end on a good note
The Colour - Lovely you've done well with the background to get rid of any conflict and got the perfect contrast between foreground and background.
The Focus - The foreground is in focus, the main thing that I find wrong with peoples close ups/macros is that the closest point isn't focus, usually that detracts from the image, so you have done well to get the white bud in focus and a lot of the leaf.
The Simplicity - Ok, I'm on the fence here. The image's strength is in it's simplicity but then again there isn't much interest, maybe if it was a flower or something, how about trying again (may come to nothing) when it blossoms
I don't think I've got anything overtly negative to say, that's about it. Good work
